In April 2015, he was appointed Joint Director, CBI, where he supervised the Bank Securities & Fraud division and later spearheaded policy and anti-corruption operations, including probes related to demonetisation.
Following his tenure at the CBI, Mr. Sharma was promoted to DGP in Gujarat, heading the division focused on preventing atrocities against SC/ST and marginalized communities. He later served as Additional Director General (ADG) of CRPF, New Delhi.
